Pictures from Bible Bayou - VBS

Here are some pix from Bible Bayou (my room at VBS). Now keep in mind... I just did what the papers said to do. =0) On one hand, it was nothing too elaborate... but on the other hand, it was time consuming to redo every day. Thankfully, I had help on several days to help me transform my room! (See the previous post before this one to find out about all the decisions for Christ!)
The burning bush on top of the barren mountain top (next to the potted tree!). The kids had to climb over "boulders" (sofa cushions) as sheep to get to the mountain top. Olivia helped me get my room ready on Sunday afternoon for Monday. She and Virginia were up at the church with me. Also, I had help hanging the tarp. Dano had collected fallen branches from around the farm, cut them in smaller pieces, and brought them in for me!
Pharaoh's "platinum" (aluminum foil) throne next to the Nile river. The blue tarp hid our "backstage" where Pharaoh would go between plagues. That is also where Caleb hung out Monday and Tuesday.
Olivia (in the pink camo shirt & blue jean capris) pretending to be one of the cows struck by one of the plagues in the land of Egypt. Can you tell they are all dead cows... well except that one cow who seems to still be unaffected.
Pharaoh with a bad case of boils (red stickers) that the kids gave him while he was "asleep" on the throne. He should have let those Egyptians go!
An Israelite slave village made out of tables, brown grocery sacks, and brown paper. This is where the kids experienced the Passover safe from the death angel. This is before the "blood" was applied. (These are bags the youth guys helped me stuff. Olivia glued the brown construction paper on them Sunday so they wouldn't say Food Lion on them. Olivia was up at the church with me Tuesday afternoon helping me "build" the houses.)
On Thursday, one of the houses was still up to remind the kids of the first Passover while we celebrated Passover the way Jesus did. You can see the empty tomb in the corner. (I had help with the tomb from our Children's director and the youth who would come to ask me each morning & afternoon if I needed help.)
A different view of our Thursday classroom. We sat around in the circle on the sheets to sample some of the Passover foods. This was good to help them quickly sit in a circle, BUT the main purpose in my opinion was to save the carpet in case someone spilled grape juice... but amazingly NO ONE did!
The cross to remind the kids of Jesus' death and the gift of salvation for each of them... each child & leader put their name on the cross.
Today (Friday) I led the kids on a journey from Egypt to the Red Sea. Just like the Israelites, they followed the pillar of cloud by day (polyfill) and the pillar of fire by night (lantern).
We got to rest a few minutes before the Egyptians came. Then the Lord parted the Red Sea (a large blue tarp with brown paper dry ground). Thankfully, the youth minister was available to help me do this while Dano stayed home with the kids during naptime on Thursday!

Thanks again for praying!

Blessings,
Melinda =0)
