A WHILE back I mentioned that I would tell you another way my friend, Cindy, was a blessing to me. BTW, she had a healthy baby boy (about a month early) that weighed almost nine pounds! He was born on Christmas Eve. What a wonderful gift he has been to their family! Thanks for the prayers you lifted up! He's so cute... with red hair! Anyway... back to the Supper Club! Cindy heads this up.
About every 4 to 6 weeks, three or four of us do a frozen meal swap. How does this work?
Well, we each choose four recipes and confer with each other to make sure we don't all make the same thing. Then if 3 are participating, we make 3 of each meal (if 4, then 4 of each meal). Then the night we swap, we go home with a variety of meals... 4 from each person!
So, this time around there are only 3 of us doing it. I will have one of each of the meals from each person in my freezer... that is 12 meals... ready (or almost ready) to go! When all 4 do it, I have 16 different meals in my freezer! YUM!
The cooking day or days are a little crazy sometimes, but it is well worth it to have so many meals already taken care of and ready to go... assuming I remember to set them out to thaw! ha!
But I wanted to share this with you in case it is something you wanted to try! If you want any tips, let me know. Something that helps our system work pretty well is that our families are very similar in sizes and ages. This way we're already used to cooking for the amount we're cooking for and no one ends up with a ton of leftovers that go to waste!
Oh, how do we pay for this?? Well, we each go shopping for our ingredients and keep our receipts. Then we tell Cindy our totals. She adds them all up and divides by the number doing it (3 or 4). Lastly, she tells us if we owe someone a few dollars or if someone owes us!
I'm sure I've left out some important details, but you get the idea. If you have any Qs, let me know!
Have a great supper tonight!!
Blessings,
Melinda =0)
