Cutie Patutu

My friend, Mary Ann who took our pictures during the birth, came by Sunday with a gift for Virginia... a handmade tutu! How cute is this! Mary Ann makes these & sells them from this blog: http://cutiepatutu.blogspot.com/. I just love this, and you know I am not a prissy girl!

Virginia will be 13 days old tonight. If you want to see more pix of Virginia in her tutu, go to our other blog: http://allthingsbabywhited.blogspot.com/2009/03/cutie-patutu.html

Blessings,

PS I "fixed" it so that you can leave comments on the other blog even if you don't have a google account.

Virginia's Birth Story

(Picture from today after Virginia's first "real" bath. She didn't enjoy the bath so much, but she's pretty content here in her towel on the changing table looking out into the sunny yard.)

For those of you who have been waiting, I finally posted the LONG version of Virginia's birth story on the All Things Baby blog. http://allthingsbabywhited.blogspot.com/2009/03/virginias-birth-story.html

I've also posted all the full-term kids' birth stories there, too, in case you need some help going to sleep sometime.
The short version of her birth is as follows...
We were at the table about to start dinner (late) at 7:30 p.m. when my water broke. Contractions started soon after... not too hard or too fast, thankfully. The midwives got here in plenty of time. My friend (Mary Ann) who came to take pictures & video got here in plenty of time. The kids were well cared for by Kelly. She finished up dinner with them & got them to bed, then she joined us for the end of the birth. A little after 9 p.m. I was ready to push, and our baby GIRL was born at 9:37 p.m. The cord was loosely around her neck (which they easily slipped off), and there were no complications! I got to pull her out and onto my chest. What a wonderful experience. She "scored" a 10 on both her apgars. She's been doing great ever since! Me too... but I am still a little sore... some days are better than others! What a blessing! All babies are just miracles. God is so gracious!
Thanks for your continued prayers. We're all in love with her. Everyone is healthy. Wesley is always looking for her when he sees me without her or he comes in our room, and says, "Where'd my baby go?" He, Olivia, & Derek always want to kiss her or hold her. Emma is not interested in kissing her, but she wants to hug her or hold her. It is so sweet to see their love for their baby sister!

St. Patrick's Day in Pictures

Olivia holding Virginia, Derek, Emma, & Wesley

Thank you, Granny for the holiday shirts! (I got the headbands at Target a while back for a $1 each! I'm glad I got one for "the baby" just in case we had a girl! Of course hers is a bit large! Maybe next year it will fit better! =0)

I love this holiday. If you don't know the story of Saint Patrick, I encourage you to learn more! He was an incredible missionary!

Virginia's First Official Visitor and Misc. Updates

Our pastor called & came by for a visit this afternoon. How wonderful to have Virginia's first "official" visitor be our pastor. He held her & prayed for her and our entire family just before Wesley & Emma went down for nap. We just love Pastor Bert, and his love for his flock. We are thankful for the church family God has provided for us here! He always takes such good care of us wherever we go. Thank you Lord!

Virginia enjoyed her time in Pastor Bert's arms. As a matter of fact, she began to fuss when he returned her to me. =0( Of course, she was ready to sleep & quickly went to sleep as I held her.

Others have visited very quickly to drop off a meal (a HUGE blessing), but the only ones who have seen Virginia are the ones who were here when she was born... OH, and our chiropractor! He made a house call on Thursday afternoon to help me recover at a quicker pace! Thank you, Lord, for compassionate people!

Thankfully, everyone in the house is well! It seems it was a 24 hour or less virus... and only Kelly & Olivia & Derek suffered.

Many have mentioned they are "afraid" to call. You are MORE than welcome to call. I cannot promise you that we will answer, but you can leave a voice mail or a message with Kelly. If I am back in our room, I cannot even hear the phone ring. Of course, e-mail, blog, & facebook messages are great, too. I may not respond to any of the messages anytime soon, but please know they are received! We are blessed by your comments and prayers.

Virginia slept a lot last night instead of fussing or crying most of the night, so today I have felt MUCH more human! She is a little blessing, but she has been our first to be so fussy during the WHOLE night. Yesterday I worked harder at making sure she ate every 2-3 hours & stayed awake for a FULL feeding. This must have helped. Plus, I think she's just getting used to life "out here" with the whole gang! We'll see tonight!

Well, it is about time for her to be eating again, so I better be going.

Blessings,
Melinda =0)

PS I know many of you (based on your messages) are waiting for the "whole" story. I hope to do that sometime in the next couple of days. I will put it on the All Things Baby blog, but I will put a little message here so you'll know it is there! =0)

Please Pray for Health and Healing

Kelly, Olivia, & Derek have been throwing up today (and Kelly during the night).  Olivia & Derek already seem like they are on the road to recovery.  I think Kelly is improving, too.  Please pray they will fully recover ASAP and that no one else will get it!

I've been taking care of Virginia, & Dano has been taking care of the rest of us!  What a Christlike servant!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is sleep deprived since our Virginia cries pretty loud at night!  My milk has already come in since she's been working so hard so hopefully each night will get better.  Please pray she'll get enough milk to be satisfied, and everyone will get a good night's sleep since that will help keep everyone healthy!

Thank you for your continued prayers & well wishes!

Blessings,
Melinda & gang

Virginia is after my wonderful Grandma who is now with the Lord. She was a Godly woman.

Grace... for the Grace of God...

Thanks for the continued prayers. Virginia is doing great... seems to be hungry all the time...

Please pray for my quick recovery & for me & Dano to get some much needed sleep!

Praise the Lord for Kelly and her blessing our family & caring for our other kiddos (and us)!
